Member of the Month

Bob Loos

Bob Loos, a resident of Crafton Heights, has been a member of our church off and on for 51 years.  He became a member of the congregation at age 12.  In his twenties he went away from the church, but he rejoined 15 years ago.

Bob has a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.  He worked as a draftsman at Hagan Chemical and Controls.  He also was employed at Westinghouse and ASA.  Now he works at Home Instead Senior Care where he gives home care to the elderly, which he enjoys very much.

Bob has served the church as an elder and presently as a deacon.  He sings in the church choir, and he coordinates the community blood drive that is held at our church.  Bob also is on the Outreach Commission, where he coordinates the meals that we serve several times each year at the homeless shelter on the Northside.

Bob has one brother, who is married and has two daughters.  Bob says that his favorite hymns are “It Is Well With My Soul” and “In The Garden.”  His favorite Bible verses are 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and 1 Corinthians 13.

Bob volunteers at the Carnegie Science Museum for the miniature train and village.  He also volunteers as a docent for the Pittsburgh History and Landmark Foundation, giving tours to children, adults, and groups.

Bob is an amateur artist.  He has done some oil painting and has studied at the Carnegie Natural History Museum.  Bob is a season ticket holder for the symphony and the opera.  He joined the Biblical Archaeology Society thirty years ago, and he is presently an officer in the group.  He has been to Jordan for a month-long dig, as well as to many other locations.
