Monica Ide

Monica Ide, a resident of Ingram, has been a member of our church for about five years.

Monica is a special education teacher, currently working at the Crafton United Methodist Learning Center on Belvidere Street.

Over the years Monica has been very involved in the life of our church.  Her participation has included:  member of adult Sunday school class; tutor with the literacy program; a member of the prayer chain; JULIETs; choir member; moderator of the board of deacons; member of the Congregational Life Commission; participant in the All-Church retreat; and previously a Sunday school teacher.

Monica enjoys camping, cooking, needlework, candy-making, helping people, and musical activities.  She is a member of the ICTUS community choir.

Although her family does not currently have any pets, in the past they have had everything from a basset hound to a lizard to a rabbit.

Monica is married to Randy.  They have two children.  Kenny, age 23, is attending Kent State University.  Tina, who soon will be 21, is a senior at Eastern Nazarene College in Boston.

For her favorite Bible passages, Monica names 1 Corinthians 13 and Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.  Her favorite hymns are “Amazing Grace” and “A Mighty Fortress.”

Monica comments: “Church has always been at the center of my life – attending Sunday School, then youth group and Young Life, and continuing to attend church throughout college.  My family jokes that even with all this early involvement in the church, it took me nearly 35 years to become a ‘PK’ (preacher’s kid).  It is wonderful to be back in a church where I have been taken in as part of a family, and I am able to be myself, and through their nurturing, I am allowed to grow.”
