Members of the Month

Andy, Heather, Kyle, and Damian Dynys

The Dynys family has lived in Crafton since May 2000.  Heather was born and raised in Lower Burrell in Westmoreland County.  Andy is originally from Jamestown, NY, but also lived in Alfred, NY, Boston, MA, and Poughkeepsie, NY before moving to Upper Burrell.

Andy works for Sedgman, an engineering and construction company in Scott Township.  He is a mineral processing engineer and designs coal preparation plants.  Heather stays at home and raises the children. Previously she worked in the field of logistics for Martin-Brower in Carnegie.

Andy and Heather have been members of the church for 4 ½ years.  During that time, Heather has served as an elder and has participated on the Outreach Commission and Finance Commission.  Andy is on the church nominating committee, has served as a liturgist, has taken part in the Maundy Thursday play, and is currently a deacon-elect.

Andy is the oldest of five.  He has one sister and three brothers.  Heather is the middle child and has two sisters.  They have two nieces and three nephews, with another nephew due in March.

When it comes to hymns, Heather likes “The Old Rugged Cross” and Andy likes “Amazing Grace.”  Andy’s favorite Bible passage is 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 and Heather likes John 15:5.

Heather and Andy knew each other in high school, but they did not start dating until their freshman year at Penn State.  Although they have been married for 5 years, they have known each other for 14 years.  Kyle likes taking walks with the family, especially to the park.  He also loves going on bike rides with his daddy.

The Dynys family also has two dogs – Tucker and Bruno.
