MEMBER OF THE MONTH – MARY LOU MARSHALL

Mary Lou Marshall currently resides in Thornberry in the house where Ruth Nickel used to live.  Previously, Mary Lou and her husband Lew had lived in Thornburg.  She grew up in Colorado.

As a teenager, Mary Lou was a youth delegate to our denomination’s General Assembly.

Mary Lou has been a member of our church for about 15 years.  During that time she has been involved in the church by helping with our food pantry for more than 15 years, serving as a deacon (including two terms as moderator of the deacons) and recently she has been leading the armchair exercise class at our new C.A.M.P. senior program.

Mary Lou had worked for a number of years for a CPA firm.  In her free time, she enjoys working on craft projects.  She needlepointed the lamb cover on the chair by the communion table.

Mary Lou says that “Amazing Grace” and “In The Garden” are her favorite hymns.  In the Bible, she likes the 23rd Psalm and the Ten Commandments.

Mary Lou says that one day she and her grandson were talking about wishes.  Her grandchild said he thought it would be great to be able to wish for a lot of money.  He then asked his grandmother what she would wish for.  She answered, “Peace on earth and good will toward men.”
