Dorothy Fonzi

Dorothy Fonzi,
a resident of Avalon, joined our church in 1951, shortly before the birth of
her first child.
For 20 years she worked for Hultman doing bookbinding and microfilming. She also worked for 6 years for Mellon Bank,
finally retiring at the age of 77.
Whenever we celebrate communion
during our Sunday morning worship, Dorothy is the one who usually bakes the
shortbread that we use for the sacrament.
Dorothy continues to be an active
part of our church’s Presbyterian Women’s organization,
and she is a regular participant in our CAMP senior program and the adult
Sunday School class. In the past,
Dorothy also taught Sunday School.
Dorothy has one daughter (Barbara),
two sons (William and Henry), and 8 grandchildren.
Dorothy used to have a dog named Mitzie and a
cat named Kimba.
When it comes to hymns, Dorothy
identified “How Great Thou Art” and “In The Garden” as
being her favorites.
Although Dorothy does not have one
particular favorite verse of the Bible, she says that she loves the entire
Bible, especially the New Testament.
Dorothy enjoys crafts, and she has
belonged to a 500 card playing group for over 60 years.
