MEMBER OF THE MONTH

Beginning this month, we are going to feature information about one of our members or one of our families on our web site.  This is a way to help people get to know each other a little better.  For October, our Member of the Month is Alicia Conboy.

Alicia Conboy has been a member of our congregation for 37 years.  She lives in Sheraden with her mother, Nancy.  Alicia also has one brother, Scott.  Her previous work experience includes employment in advertising sales and as a construction estimator.

In our church, Alicia has participated as a deacon, a music teacher for Youth Club, an adult leader for the PYC youth group, a member of the Outreach Commission and has sung in the church choir since age 13.

When asked to name her favorite hymn, Alicia replied, “All of them!”  Her favorite Bible passage is Romans 5:1-8.

Alicia’s hobbies include cross-stitch, baking, crafts, movies and singing in the ICTUS choir.  For many years, Alicia was involved in barbershop singing, including serving as the director for the Washington County Sweet Adalines for several years.  She has sung barbershop performances in England and Scotland.

Although Alicia has MS, she says, “I have it, but it doesn’t have me!”  She is grateful for the healing and strength she receives from God every day.  People watch as her wheelchair lift on her car works in parking lots . . . this gives her a chance to witness to people about God and what he has done in her life.    Alicia prizes the fellowship she enjoys with her church family.  Some of her closest friends are people she met when she was in youth group!
